In today’s market, it’s becoming harder and harder to know what course of action you should take when you’re starting your job search. As recruiters, we strive to make this process as painless and seamless as possible.

Though sometimes recruiters can have a bad wrap (Thanks, Hollywood), we’re here to set the record straight and inform you as to why you should use a recruiter. So without further adieu, let’s dive in!

1. Say Goodbye To Cover Letters

“I love writing cover letters”, said no one ever!

If you invest the time and effort into reaching out to a recruiter or at least responding to their outreach, you’re one step closer to saying goodbye to cover letters forever (maybe)! Crazy, right?

“When you enlist the help of a recruiter, it’s our responsibility to represent you and your skillset to the best of your ability. Your recruiter is your agent, they get you to the top of the pile; right into the hand of the hiring manager and act as the candidate advocate along the way“.

Katie Tumbleston, Catch Talent Technical Recruiter

2. You Can Save So Much Time!

When it really comes down to it, we’re in the business of saving time. As recruiters, we’re constantly trying to connect talented people to talented teams in the most efficient way possible. Now, I’m not trying to say come to us at the last minute as a last resort, but we do try to be as quick as possible.

One way we save you time is by reducing the number of hours that it takes you to fill out job applications. On average, most candidates submit between 10 to 20 job applications per week when actively searching for a job. That’s a minimum of 10 hours per week of just filling out the applications! On top of that, we hear about roles before they’re even advertised, so we can get you there before there’s competition, which saves hours of time on both the applicant and interviewer sides!

We also focus on cutting down the amount of time in between steps, whether it’s in between screenings, interviews, or feedback sessions, we’re there to push it along and give you some time back along the way. This also benefits the teams that we recruit for. Most of the time, they genuinely need the help!

3. You Get Your Own Personal Interview Coach

Before and in between interviews, you can bet that we’re coaching you and helping you prepare to crush it in your interviews. We love to give you specific insights into the role that you’re going in for, even if it’s something small like the hiring manager’s favorite football team.

4. Recruiters Are Your Personal Resource!

Especially when it comes to setting salary expectations and negotiating salary. We pride ourselves on the job market expertise that we have, and love nothing more than to share it with our candidates. However, transparency is key; don’t be afraid to voice your opinion about a job and be open about where else you’re applying to. We can only help you if you help us!

Having an open line of communication between you and your recruiter strengthens that relationship and pushes you that much closer to the finish line. This is how we build our candidate pipeline out, relationship management, and account management! So the more transparency and open communication in the candidate-recruiter relationship, the quicker we will be able to place you. Forward-thinking is key!

To sum it all up, using a recruiter is the best thing you can do for your job searching process! Between getting the insight scoop on your job market trends, to having an advocate throughout the whole process, partnering with a good recruiter is paramount to a successful search!
